Title: Cultivating Context
Category: Look Up
Description: During a 10-month strategic planning exercise undertaken in 2016, the rural Delta community of Lonoke, Arkansas (population 4,287) examined their context and developed a vision for the future. During this process, a local architect learned that, while architecture offers the tools of analysis and skill to articulate this context, an individual architect's role is to be an enabling leader, empowering dreamers and ensuring that numerous diverse voices are included in the discovery process. This leadership role is a temporary stewardship, and an architect is accountable to the community and neighborhood in which he or she lives.
