Lighting in Action

In January of 2018, a group of graduate students from the lighting design, architecture, and design & technology created an organization titled Lighting in Action. They visited two communities in Puerto Rico which were Caño Martín Peña and Loíza, both located near the capital of San Juan. The goal of their trip was to research and learn more about the role of electric lighting in a post Hurricane Maria environment so that they can better design as future architects, lighting designers and creative technologist. After the trip in January, the collaboration continued and these students will be returning to the communities in October 2018 to install solar light kits within the community of Caño Martín Peña. This short video observes mostly Loíza, along with some footage of LIA visiting and taking measurements for homes located in Caño Martiín Peña. Within this film the role of light guiding story line which are told through a Loíza community leader. LIA intends on continuing to work with these communities and releasing a longer film in the future after the the completion on their upcoming project in October of 2018.
