Fundación Esperanza de México is a non-profit organization working with Generica Architecture and Urban Design dedicated to community development through self build housing projects, from begining to end.
The program encourages landowners who may be living in delapitated homes, to improve their living situation through the construction of structurally secure homes suitable for the climate and landscape of Mexico. Fundación Esperanza de México establishes a system for families of Baja California to build their homes with the help of their community members, government subsidies and volunteer participation.
Architect René Peralta, director of Generica, sits on the board to assist with the development of the residential design that maximizes light and air, while maintaining easy to build construction components to be assembled by untrained workers.
The program organically creates community development through organized construction meetings and team construction building.
