AIA Film Challenge 2018 by the numbers

We are thrilled with the amount of amazing entries submitted from all over the United States and around the globe. Eighty-nine submissions poured in with 50 of those films eligible for public voting. By participating in the 2018 AIA Film Challenge, you demonstrated to the world the unique ability architects have to make a difference and create a Blueprint for Better in our society.

Of the 50 eligible films, 10 countries are represented along with 22 different U.S. states. Every film followed the prompt of architects working to improve our cities and communities, but 10 different sub-categories also emerged: accessibility, affordable housing, community revitalization, diversity, and education, empowering lives, homelessness, inspired by nature, preservation and repurposing, social impact design, or sustainability.

Now that public voting is officially open, we want you to help us decide who will take home the 2018 People’s Choice Award! You can watch all of the films and vote for your favorite by Oct. 7. Check out last week’s article, Public voting and promoting your film, to learn how you can leverage your audience on social media throughout public voting. Keep in mind, you can cast a new vote every hour, which means you should continue to promote your film throughout the entire public voting period.

The film with the most votes will receive $5,000 along with a screening and celebration at Chicago Ideas on October 18, complete with travel and hotel accommodations for two, among other prizes.
