Description: This film chronicles the design process and construction of a community gathering space in the Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco. The project is a partnership with residents and non-profit organizations, and is the first project of the “B.Lab” design build program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
The installation, entitled “Point Perch” is a deck structure with sweeping views of the bay located at the main entry to the Hunters Point East Residences. Its design was conceived through student led community workshops and aims to transform an underutilized outdoor area into a vibrant space for celebrations, gatherings or quiet contemplation.
