Just like that, our 2018 AIA Film Challenge submission window will come to a close in less than 24 hours! This year’s prompt asked filmmakers and architects to collaborate in telling stories of projects done in partnership with civic leaders and the community. We are thrilled to have received so many wonderful films and are inspired by the stories you told.
Next step, judging!
Judging and prizes
Our team is actively reviewing submissions to choose this year’s finalists. Finalist films will make their way to our panel of prestigious judges, made up of architects and media professionals, who will select the Grand Prize, Runner-Up, and Third Place winning films.
This year’s Grand Prize winner will receive $5,000 as well as travel and hotel accommodations to New York City for a screening of their film at Architecture and Design Film Festival’s opening night celebration, among other prizes. Check out the full list of prizes on our home page!
Always wanted to channel your inner film critic? You’re in luck! We are excited to once again designate a People’s Choice Award, which will be chosen through a public voting period that will run from Sept. 3 to Oct. 7.
This is your chance to view all of this year’s amazing submissions and help us decide who will receive $5,000 and a screening at the upcoming Chicago Ideas Festival complete with travel and hotel accommodations for two.
Contestants are strongly advised to mobilize their audience during the public voting period. Make sure to stay active on social media promoting your film and encouraging followers to vote for your submission. When followers engage with your posts, show them appreciation by liking, answering questions, and replying to their responses. You can also engage with the AIA Film Challenge community as a whole by utilizing #BlueprintforBetter on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s Film Challenge, and we can’t wait to celebrate the finalists and winners in the coming months!
